SUMMARY

Nowadays, LED technology has advanced rapidly in different fields of agricultural sciences, because it has been observed that artificial lighting produces stimulatory effects on the physiological development of exposed plants. In corn, the effect produced by the photoperiod with lighting at different wavelengths has not yet been studied, therefore, the objective was to characterize the physiological response to the photoperiod with LED light. Four corn genotypes were evaluated, with four different photoperiod treatments under LED lighting (white, blue, green, red). The experiment was developed in complete random blocks in three repetitions for the combinations between genotypes and light spectra. Height, stem diameter, radicle length, radicle volume and leaf area were evaluated, where a relationship was observed in the behavior of LED light in some variables, in turn in the genotypes a different interaction before each treatment This by means of a squared means analysis and multiple comparison of means by Tukey (p ≤ 0.05) using the statistical program SAS (see 9.4) (Statical Analysis System, 2014) were carried out for each study variable. The quality, intensity and duration of light control plant development because they promote different physiological responses, where there is vegetative development in blue LED, in addition the study shows that the genotype that has the best physiological response is the white genotype, the one with the lowest physiological response is the blue genotype.
